This pattern contains 4 different styles of frames which may be filled with any number of items. One of mine has items from the drawers of the treadle sewing machine that I inherited from my grandmother. Another one has one of my mother's hand-made yo-yos, some small crocheted items, and a few buttons from her collection.
Other ideas for items to put in the frames would be photographs, baby items, a brooch collection, men's pins from various organizations, pins from quilt shows, badges, band medals, veteran's medals, and the list goes on! Depending on the item, you may sew through it, or secure it with several strands of clear nylon thread. Just prepare as many frames as you have items to display.
To make the wall hanging even more personal, choose fabrics that remind you of a special person. Or even better, use an item of their clothing for the background or the picture frames.
Another option for this pattern would be to place some clear plastic behind the frame, and leave the top edge open so that small items may be placed in, or removed from, the opening. This would make a great gift for a special child or college student. Just leave the frames empty and allow them to "fill" their own.
The possibilities are endless! Use your imagination and have some fun with this one!
